About Flo
I’m a folk & americana singer/songwriter in Nashville by way of the gleaming beaches and rolling hills of California’s Central Coast. You can hear some samples of my style on the Music and Lyrics page.
History
I get my musical interests from a lifetime surrounded by musicians. My mother was signed with Warner Brothers during the early 60s, after which she and my father become touring musicians and had children, in all of whom they instilled a love for music.
Ten years ago, I began studies in vocal jazz, but pretty quickly found my identity as a singer/songwriter and started developing my unique sound. I released Practice Room, my first album in the summer of 2006 and will release Coming Around in 2009.
Influences
My major influences include Nanci Griffith, Ben Folds, Counting Crows, Sarah McLachlan, Patty Griffin, Sheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks.
Other Projects
In addition to my solo career, I sing with the Chattanooga based progressive rock band, Glass Hammer. We played to thousands at the North East Rock Art Festival in New Jersey in June ‘03 and I’ve continued to work with the band appearing at several shows and being featured on several records since then.
