Note: With the exception of 2 of the songs,  I selected the titles out of a spreadsheet without knowing who submitted them. Because of this, there are a couple of folks who had more than one song title selected. If yours wasn’t selected, keep it for next year, think of new ones or submit a TON when FAWM 2011 rolls around!

I almost scrapped this song completely. I wound up pulling it together nearing the FAWM deadline. I think I had an hour or two left to post song #14 to their website.

You Don’t Know Me

I almost didn’t write it. I had another title picked, and after days of trying to make that one work, I scrapped it and picked this one. I wrote it in an hour and it’s probably my favorite out of the 14, if not out of all the songs I’ve written.

The point of the song truly is not to make a political statement, but to draw attention to the fact that no matter what side of things we are on, we are always making judgments about people on the other side, when they are probably a lot more like us than we realize. I think all of us would rather be known, than judged.

Migration Song

David and I named our blog this b/c we’ve been moving a lot and with each
move there’s a song that comes from the heart. sometimes a song of sorrow,
sometimes a song of joy…but always a song of depth and a cry to God. (the
psalms are always an inspiration here!)

If there was a common theme running through everyone’s song suggestions, I’d
say it was the concept of “migration”, leaving, movement, longing for
home…maybe I got this out of it, because I’m dealing with these things
presently.

This song could have been named any number of titles you all suggested, but
I liked Kelly’s mentioning of the Psalms for inspiration, and that helped me
move in a specific direction.

This song features my brother Brandon, guitar player extraordinaire.
