FAWM 2010! - Let’s Make *another* Album Together!

by admin on January 1, 2010

Last year I participated (for the first time ever) in FAWM -February Album Writing Month.

You picked the titles, I wrote the songs - 14 songs to be exact.

One of those songs was chosen to be on the FAWM compilation album!

Can we do this again?

C’mon people-I need your song titles. Let’s do it.

You Make Up a Good Song Title

It can be anything, but keeping it under 10 words will probably help.

Post It In The Comments

If you want to include suggestions, elaboration, whatever that’s fine. If you want to “second” someone else’s title, that’s OK too. Comments will close on January 31st at midnight because…

February 1st I’ll Pick My Faves

And start writing and recording songs based on submitted titles!

*All submitted content will become the property of Flo Paris Music, and by submitting a song title, you agree to those terms.

I have five suggestions for you. I hope that’s not too many…

1. Leather and Lace by Stevie Nicks
2. Canons by Jeremy Enigk
3. Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones
4. When God Made Me by Neil Young
5. My Back Pages by Bob Dylan

gary 01.03.10 at 11:45 am

1) well, in the spirit of Nashville try this one: …(my boyfriend left me on new years eve so) ‘Save That Barstool For Me’
2) ‘Inwards to Outwards’
3) ‘Too crowded at the top’
4) ‘Drew’s bruise and antler shoes’ (got the idea from seeing all those little people stumbling around at the Ugly Mugs show:)
5) ‘Winter Shards’ - also the title of a game in which two countries are at war against each other and meet a standstill in a continent. When it seems the war will be prolonged, a sudden legion appears, and the people living in the continent will forever remember it at the start of the dread of winter.
6) ‘Four impossible endings’ - metaphore on the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
…and that’s all I got right now!

Thanks for the personal note

It’s a song about how people send out christmas cards with a picture of their family, but then don’t write a personal note to the people they’re sending it to.
It’s a sarcastic song that could contain a line similar to “writing my address on the envelope doesn’t count as a personal message”

You can thank my husband for this goldmine. He landed on it after seeing our fridge covered with pictures of people we like that didn’t say anything to us.
Aaand, I’m out.

1. whats with walmart?
2. welcome to walmart
3. attn walmart shoppers (any of the first three can be about huge box stores contributing to a massive bum increase)
4. who farted?
5. sit long, talk much
6. whips, chains, and bowling lanes (i got nothing)
7. fungus ( a glimpse into the dark underbelly of foot fetish)
8. words schmerds
9. amber alert
10. dula doolittle
11. the crass i bare
12. replay is everything
13. dont tell father time that mother earth is a lesbian
14. father time is gay?
15. settling is the new black
if nothing else makes it, please choose “father time is gay?”

gary 01.04.10 at 9:03 am

1) ‘Drowsy Maggie’ - the name of my friend’s spoiled Dachshund. We run her in the Dachshund races every year at the local fair. She would much rather be in bed with her owners’ warm feet!

2) ‘an unexpected ruse’ - sometimes, something completely unexpected causes us to change our course. I guess it’s like having an “ah-ha” moment.

Meg 01.05.10 at 12:40 am

1. I just said I love you
All the reason you do, and don’t say I love you (not why you don’t cause you hate something, why you don’t cause you can’t, or don’t get around to it, that sort of thing)

2. Things that are contagious
3. Don’t be flirtatious.
4. Baby come back to me (a take me back song from the woman’s perspective)

Tying the Not

gary 01.10.10 at 7:22 pm

1) ‘Dirty Little Secret’

2) ‘Tinderbox’

3) ‘Penny’s Place’ - We all have one of these: a local diner or eatery where they know us by name and we are actually thankful for it!

4) ’scraunched, scroonched, and squirreled’ - This is a list of candidates for longest english words of one syllable…another useless thing our kids learn at school:)

5) ‘orphan’

6) ’spondee’ - from a Greek word describing the two long musical notes that accompanied the pouring of a libation.

gary 01.10.10 at 10:10 pm

‘Brace for Impact’ - just watched the documentary about flight 1549. Three words spoken by a captain that ended up getting everything right.
…and I am finished

Hi Flo. So this is totally personal…but there aren’t any songs with Delia’s name in them…well except for the one about a girl named Delia that was murdered…..so this is why I’m suggesting these two song titles….:)

My Girl Delia
or
Delia, My Blue-Eyed Girl

Here are a few other suggestions:
Rocking Babies and Lullabies
Grandma’s Chair
Papa’s Owl (there is a beautiful owl living in a big pine tree in my parent’s backyard…my dad loves birds and checks on it probably everyday)
Parking Space Wars (there are quite a few neighbors in our complex that like to hoard the best parking spots….so annoying!)

Karl 01.14.10 at 3:19 pm

Some of Soren’s…you can use them though:

I Don’t Want to Play the Guitar, I Don’t Want to Sing (while playing the guitar and singing…get it? irony.)
Today is Tomorrow (Although I would suggest Today was Tomorrow…present past and future…crazy! and today was tomorrow if you think about it.)

Hi Flo,

Three suggestions……..
1. I Will Sing and Make Music
2. Standing up for Compassion
3. Silly Willies

The first title can take you in multiple directions. My thought behind the title is that all that comes from you comes from God. Your passion for music moves you to be steadfast and heart felt.

The second title is based on the premise of helping others in need. The compassion we observe, especially in Haiti, is coming from all peoples on a global scale. This is an improved change in how we as a global community are able to help those in need. Perhaps this is a glimpse to what this new decade has to bring.

The third title is something fun that can be sung with kids or simply a song to put a smile on your face. Hand motions optional.

Hope this helps and good luck with the challenge!
