Migration Song

Title Submitted By: Kelly Richter
Genre: Singer/Songwriter, Folk

David and I named our blog this b/c we’ve been moving a lot and with each
move there’s a song that comes from the heart. sometimes a song of sorrow,
sometimes a song of joy…but always a song of depth and a cry to God. (the
psalms are always an inspiration here!)

If there was a common theme running through everyone’s song suggestions, I’d
say it was the concept of “migration”, leaving, movement, longing for
home…maybe I got this out of it, because I’m dealing with these things
presently.

This song could have been named any number of titles you all suggested, but
I liked Kelly’s mentioning of the Psalms for inspiration, and that helped me
move in a specific direction.

This song features my brother Brandon, guitar player extraordinaire.
Thanks for making it so pretty!

Migration Song Lyrics

Falling like a puzzle
Like a piece that’s made to fit
Will you place me
Like you’ve promised
‘Cause I’m lost here in the mix

Rolling like a marble
In a maze
I’m meant to win
I can’t get around the corner
Without falling in the pit

Like a lookout
Waiting for the sun
My soul’s waiting
My soul waits for none…but you.
For none but you
My soul waits for none but you

Driving for the third time
Across this country
Across the plains
I’m getting closer
I’m getting farther
But at the end of the road
Your love remains

I like your folk/acoustic style…
Is that Dolly singin’ in the background?
